Siarhei Kaliakin Dies

The former head of the party ‘Fair World’ was 72 years old.
After a serious prolonged illness, a well-known figure of the Belarusian leftist movement Siarhei Kaliakin died at the age of 72 in the morning of August 15, writes ‘Pozirk’.
Since 1994, Kaliakin headed the Belarusian Party of the Left ‘Fair World’ (until 2009 it was called the Party of Communists of Belarus).
He was born on June 16, 1952 in Minsk, graduated from Minsk Radio-Technical Institute (now Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics) as a radio engineer, member of the CPSU since 1977. Deputy of the 13th convocation of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus (1995-1996).
The Fair World party was liquidated by the Supreme Court on September 29, 2023. In December of the same year Kaliakin joined the organising committee for creating a Marxist party.
Kalyakin is the nephew of the speaker of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation Mikalai Dzemiantsei.
