Forbes: Two More AFU Brigades Join Battle In Kursk Region

15,000 Ukrainian troops are now advancing on Kursk.

The invasion of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia has been going on for the eighth day, and fighters of two more Ukrainian air assault brigades - the 82nd and 95th - have joined the battle, Forbes writes.

"Given the reinforcement by airborne troops, the Ukrainian invasion corps now includes partially or fully six frontline brigades plus two separate battalions and auxiliary units of drones, artillery, reconnaissance and special forces. In total, perhaps about 15,000 troops,” the article reads.

It is noted that many of the brigades and battalions sent to the Kursk region are transferred from other active areas of the front, such as Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Chasiv Yar. According to Rob Lee, an analyst at the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies, this speaks to Ukraine's ambitious goals in this operation, which include a long-term Ukrainian presence in the region.

What the Russians opposed the AFU

According to Forbes, the Russians are fighting back with the forces of at least nine motorized rifle, air assault, naval and Arctic regiments and brigades, which could potentially correspond to or exceed the number of Ukrainian invasion corps. At the same time, the Russian military does not stop the offensive in the east of Ukraine, even strengthening the defence in the south of Russia.

According to the publication, the losses on both sides are growing, as new forces enter the battle. Ukrainians still have the advantage, and most likely, the Russian military command in the Kursk direction will have to deploy the second echelon of reserves, since the troops of the first echelon will not be able to stop the offensive.
