Lithuania Allows Entry With Belarusian Plates If Owner Driving, Holding Lithuanian Residence Permit Or Visa

The Lithuanian Customs has published new rules.

Official Vilnius has made concessions regarding the restrictions on the ban on entry of cars with Belarusian registration plates.

According to the Lithuanian customs, by decision of the Commission for the Coordination of International Sanctions starting from August 17, 2024, from 00:01 a.m. it's allowed:

- entering the territory of Lithuania by a passenger car which is not intended for sale and belongs to a citizen of Belarus who has a valid visa issued by Lithuania or a valid temporary or permanent residence permit in Lithuania authorising entry to the EU, and who is driving this vehicle exclusively for personal use (the exception does not apply to passenger cars owned by legal entities or used for commercial purposes);

- entering the territory of Lithuania by a passenger car which is not intended for sale and belongs to a citizen of an EU Member State, if he/she lives in Belarus and is driving this vehicle exclusively for personal use.
