Defence Intelligence Of Ukraine: Russian Fleet In Crimea Capitulated

The Magura V5 drone hit 18 enemy vessels.

In a year and a half, the Ukrainian-made Magura V5 strike naval drone hit 18 vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Details of the drone's operation and plans for its improvement were revealed by the commander of the special forces unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Group 13, call sign “Thirteenth”, in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

The story says that Magura V5 is the main weapon of the special forces unit Group 13. Its range is more than 800 kilometers, speed is 80 km/h, and the weight of the warhead is 250 kilograms. According to the Defence Intelligence, 9 of the 18 Russian ships hit by the drone were irrevocably destroyed.

“In fact, the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea capitulated. The Russian Federation has already withdrawn all the most modern and essential equipment from Sevastopol. It has paralyzed this fleet. Now it eats money from the Russian budget, although it cannot perform its functions,” notes Thirteenth.

The commander of the special forces unit noted that the Defence Intelligence did not pursue increasing the warhead in order to destroy the ships with one blow. Instead, the operators attacked large ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet with five or more drones, causing them critical damage. It is difficult for Russian radar systems to detect the Magura V5 due to its compact size. Magura V5 drones manage to get very close to the enemy. When the Russians detect a drone, in most cases it is too late for them.

To combat sea drones, the Russians equip their ships with machine guns and even involve aviation. According to the Defence Intelligence officer, this is an important achievement, because some of the enemy aviation is busy patrolling the Black Sea, and not performing other combat missions somewhere. The Defence Intelligence plans to improve the range and autonomy of the drone, as well as equip it with new weapons. The corresponding work is already underway.

“Anything that is in your imagination can be installed here. It takes some time to find engineering solutions, then testing and testing in real combat. That is, if we see a six-meter side now, nothing prevents us from making a 30-meter side, if necessary,” the Group 13 commander emphasized.

The Defence Intelligence spoke about the work of Magura V5 drones

Magura V5 sea drones destroyed the fifth high-speed boat “Tunets” of the Russian Armed Forces, which was based in a bay in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

To get to it, the devices first bypassed the defense line of helicopters that were hunting for them in the open sea.
