Atlantic Council: Generals & FSB Staged ‘Quiet Rebellion’ Against Putin

Russian security forces are telling the Kremlin that “enough is enough”.

The situation in the Kursk region is rapidly deteriorating for the Russian Federation. In 10 days of operations, the Russian army has not even managed to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, let alone return the territories. There is reason to believe that the Russian security forces could have staged a quiet rebellion.

Mykhailo Botsyurkiv, a representative of the influential American analytical center Atlantic Council, expressed this opinion in an interview with the BBC, Dialog.UA reports.

The expert called the situation that has developed in the Kursk region “interesting and fascinating”. The Russian Armed Forces and border guards (FSB) are unable to stabilize the situation and are slowly retreating, giving up their territories to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“The Atlantic Council is currently discussing the issue of whether Russia's slow reaction may indicate signs of insubordination... It is difficult to explain this impotent reaction to the Ukrainian invasion in any other way,” Botsyurkiv said.

He noted that the Ukrainians managed to break through a section of the border that was supposed to have powerful barriers.

However, they were not there. The lack of any resistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the local population and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation is also surprising. There is reason to believe that sabotage is taking place.

“I think that this slow reaction of the late-enforcers (...) may indicate that the generals and the FSB are telling Putin: “Enough!” the Atlantic Council representative said.
