Military Expert: Russian Troops Surrounded In Kurshchyna

The trap closed.

The Russian group in the Glushkovsky district of Kurshchina could be surrounded by the Ukrainian forces after the defeat of all three bridges.

Military expert Oleh Zhdanov told Apostrophe TV about this.

"The fact is that after the defeat of three bridges, this territory became in fact an encirclement - not an operational environment and not fire control. Why? Because the Seim River is a very serious obstacle – it is full of water and has very swampy banks. These bridges are the only three ways to cross from one bank to the other. In fact, this territory is cut off from the Russian Federation by such a huge river and we can easily take full control of it," Zhdanov said.

He also explained whether these exploded bridges would be an obstacle for the Ukrainian forces.

"Russia began to build additional defensive positions in the Kursk region already beyond the river to slow down our further offensive. But this is only possible if we plan to cross this river and advance along it. Judging by the circumstances, I think that the Seim River will be a watershed between the positions of our troops and the Russian ones, most likely, that we will also build strong points of the defense system," Zhdanov added.

According to him, there could be up to 700 Russian troops n in this "cauldron", but there is no exact data on this.

"If it is confirmed that the third bridge was destroyed and the Russian units were surrounded, then so far we know about 700 paratroopers who conducted active hostilities in the area of Tetkino. However, the day before yesterday there was information that they left these territories, and if there are any representatives of the Russian army there, they may be separate checkpoints or strongholds, or they forgot someone," the expert added.
