IRIS-T SAMs Shoots Down Two Russian Cruise Missiles With One Shot

This is a unique case.

A German IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system in service with the AFU has shot down two Russian cruise missiles with a single shot, Defence Express writes, citing a report by the West Air Command of the AFU Air Force.

‘We have already destroyed 45 aerial targets with this complex. This is in six months. The most effective anti-air battle - seven destroyed cruise missiles in one enemy missile and aircraft strike. We had two such cases. We spend one missile on one target. So the efficiency is 100 per cent. We even managed to destroy six enemy missiles with five of our own. A Russian missile exploded after being hit by our missile and destroyed another one with its debris,' said the battery commander, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr.

Although Air Command West did not disclose the type of SAM, Defence Express analysed the published photo and concluded that it was IRIS-T.

‘Most likely it is IRIS-T SLM, however, it is quite possible that the IRIS-T SLS short-range complex also has the same command centre in its structure,’ the publication said.
