Ukrainian Drones Attack Russian Radio Technical Intelligence Centre Near Moscow

Budanov has disclosed the details of the operation.

Ukraine carried out drone attacks on a radio-technical reconnaissance centre and an airport near Moscow, as well as on a Russian airbase in Rostov region. This is what the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov told The War Zone publication.

The material says that video footage showing the UAV strike near the Olenya airbase in Murmansk, where Russian strategic bombers are based above the Arctic Circle, is also being spread in the network.

‘Today we have conducted several operations with the use of drones,’ Budanov said.

Ostafievo airport and Millerovo airbase were also attacked, he said. In total, about 50 drones were involved. The extent of the damage is not clear at the moment.

‘Now we are conducting a check,’ Budanov noted.

The publication writes that the Ostafievo airport performs several functions for the Russian Ministry of Defence, and in 2018 a pair of massive ring antenna arrays were built there. It is also possible that another radio-technical intelligence centre at or near the airport was hit instead.

Budanov did not specify where the attacked radio-technical reconnaissance centre was located.

At the same time, the Russian Federation claims to have shot down allegedly all drones heading to Moscow and other regions of the country.

Budanov said that a previous Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Savasleika airport resulted in destroying a MiG-31 interceptor and two Il-76 transport planes. Then the airbase was attacked by about 10 drones.

The piece says that all the areas attacked during the night had already been attacked earlier. For example, UAV raids have occurred in Moscow before. The last attack on the Millerovo airbase occurred in July. And Ostafievo was attacked in April.
