The Russians have settled there and are repelling the assaults.
The Ukrainian military are storming the building of the women's colony in Kursk region, in which Russian soldiers have arranged firing positions.
This is reported by Bild.
According to Bild, during its advance in Kursk region, the Ukrainian army came to the women's colony, for which there is now fierce fighting.
The Russian military have turned the women's penal colony No. 11 into a fortress in the village of Malaya Loknya, 14 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, and are offering fierce resistance to the AFU. Presumably, even the colony's guards are involved in the defence of the institution, the journalists said.
Since 2011, the colony has been holding 203 convicted criminals sentenced to terms ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison.
At that, several dozen Russian soldiers have entrenched themselves around the colony, erected barricades and are using the prison's guard towers as firing positions and the massive buildings as a defence against Ukrainian attacks.
The Ukrainian military, in turn, are shelling the defenders with German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicles and also attacking the guard tower at the entrance to the women's colony with drones.
Russian military Z-bloggers confirm that Malaya Loknya has been almost completely surrounded by Ukrainian units, but Russian Armed Forces soldiers continue to hold the defence inside the compound.
At the same time, the Russian Defence Ministry says that all attacks by Ukrainian troops on Malaya Loknya have been repelled.
It is still not clear how many prisoners are still held in the women's colony in Malaya Loknya, journalists summarise.
A shot from the colony was shown on the video of the AFU's 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade.
