Political Scientist: Lukashenka Received Final Warning From China

The visit of the head of the PRC State Council was not accidental.

In Minsk, they heard Beijing's wish to solve the problems with migrants on the Polish border. This is the main result of the visit to Belarus of the Prime Minister of the State Council of China Li Qian, according to historian and political scientist Aliaksandr Friedman.

As the expert told Radio Svaboda, Li Qian brought the final warning from Beijing to Minsk: “solve the problem on the border, we do not care how you do it.”

“There is a problem, and Lukashenka must solve it in order to confirm friendship with China. And Lukashenka is trying. I think it is not accidental that a group of political prisoners were released on the eve of Li Qian's visit to Minsk.

Of course, the Chinese do not demand from Lukashenka: fulfill the demands of the Poles, and everything will be fine. China is also an authoritarian state that does not like to release its political prisoners. Therefore, they understand Lukashenka’s difficulties, but they expect results from him,” Friedman concludes.
