On Ukraine's Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law banning the activities of religious organizations associated with Russia.
The corresponding mark “returned with the president's signature” appeared under the card of law No. 8371 on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The law will come into force in 30 days. After that, churches will have nine months to sever ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
A special commission, created by the State Service for Ethnopolicy and Freedom of Conscience, will check their activities.
