A man accused of participating in protests and administering a backyard chat room in 2020 has been detained in Minsk. According to ‘Nasha Niva,’ it's the director of information security in the IS Soft IT-company, Aliaksei Yaumenkau.

Aliaksei Yaumenkau works as director of information security in the IS Soft company. In the penitential video he is forced to say that he has a salary of 16 thousand rubles monthly.

He is 48 years old. He graduated from the Belarusian State Technological University in 1998. A year later he went to work in IT.

He specialises in information security and has several certifications from various international companies. He rose to the position of information security director at IS Soft, a subsidiary of Coherent Solutions, a large American IT company. He also consults individually, helping companies to implement good security practices and comply with information security laws (including GDPR).

He has participated in many conferences and ran his own blog ISQA.ru. In 2010, he graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Aliaksei's wife is also an IT specialist and works as a tester. They raise three children together.

Aliaksei was detained about a fortnight ago. On August 14, he was arrested for ‘petty hooliganism’ - a standard practice of the police when preparing a criminal case.

In the video, he says he participated in protests and has a salary of 16,000 rubles. Also, Aliaksei is accused in the video of ‘creating an extremist chat room,’ but it is actually a chat room of the housing association where their family lived. The law enforcers do not show any sedition from this chat room in their video.

The police say that a criminal case has been opened against Aliaksei.
