Zelensky: Volunteer F-16 Fleet Is A Great Idea

But the key decision is up to the United States.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the idea of creating a volunteer air fleet of F-16 aircraft, but stressed that the final decision regarding the pilots depends on the United States.

He expressed this opinion during a press conference following a discussion at the forum “Ukraine 2024. Independence”.

“As for the volunteer F-16 air fleet, I think it's a great idea. Of course, we raised it with our partners, congressmen are on the same side with us. Surely, this is the United States' decision. Exclusively their decision. We will continue to work on this,” the president said.

He also noted that the decisions of other countries on the supply of F-16 aircraft also depend on the United States. Zelensky recalled that Ukraine has already agreed on the supply of aircraft with Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway, but all the necessary permits are provided by the American side.

“The permit is provided by the United States. The same is true for this issue,” he added.
