NATO To Increase Military Assistance To Ukraine After Major Russian Attack

This was stated by the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

The North Atlantic Alliance has decided to increase military support to Kyiv after the largest ever Russian missile attack on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. ‘Following the latest Russian attack, alliance members confirmed that they are increasing military assistance to Ukraine,’ the NATO press service quoted Stoltenberg as saying.

During the Ukraine-NATO meeting, the alliance's secretary general indicated that the military bloc should continue to provide Kyiv with the hardware and ammunition needed to defend against Russian strikes, as ‘this is vital to Ukraine's ability to continue fighting.’

The Ukraine-NATO meeting was held on August 28 at Kyiv's request in the wake of another massive attack by Russian Federation. On August 26, Ukraine was hit by the most powerful Russian missile attack on civilian infrastructure in the entire war. As a result of the shelling, energy facilities and residential buildings were damaged. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, 15 regions were affected by the attack. According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia fired 236 air attack weapons at Ukrainian territory, the air defence destroyed 102 missiles and 99 attack drones.

On the night of August 27, the Russian army struck Ukraine again with 10 missiles of various types and 81 attack drones, while five cruise missiles and 60 UAVs were shot down.

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell has repeatedly called for lifting all restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western weapons for strikes on military facilities on Russian territory in connection with another massive missile attack on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
