Ukrainian Armed Forces Begin Using ‘Laser Baba Yaga’: Z-Propagandists In Panic

It's not even the drone itself that's interesting, but its new weapons.

Russian Z-channels are panicking about the appearance of a more advanced version of the heavy multi-rotor drone known as “Baba Yaga” in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Preliminary, the Ukrainians have begun to equip the UAV with laser-guided ammunition. A photo of such a downed drone was recently published by the Russians.

It aroused the interest of military experts, Dialog.UA reports.

It was not the drone itself that was interesting, which has already proven itself in this war, but its weapons. At the time of the downing, the UAV was carrying 125 mm bombs marked BK-30F. This projectile is equipped with a laser guidance system.

And, apparently, it has already been put into serial production. This is reported by the VANGUAR Telegram channel. According to it, the bomb is equipped with a laser semi-active homing head, as well as a high-explosive fragmentation warhead. And the presence of markings indicates that the projectile is highly likely to be mass-produced.

“Why is the very fact of using such weapons important? (...) A giant UAV is forced to drop ammunition from a height where it is clearly visible, audible and not very difficult to shoot down... And even such a risk for a drone does not guarantee hitting the target, since unguided ammunition is sensitive to any errors in dropping, as well as to external factors, such as weather. Therefore, the use of laser ammunition in UAVs of this class (...) will provide a much higher probability of hitting targets and comparative safety for drones,” the military expert said.
