She promised that there would be a Republican in her administration.
US Vice President Kamala Harris gave her first interview as a Democratic presidential candidate. The conversation mainly concerned domestic American topics. CNN published a text version of the conversation with journalists on August 30.
According to Harris, her priority will be “strengthening and supporting the middle class.” In particular, her team will focus on tax breaks and housing initiatives.
She also confirmed her commitment to the policies of the current head of state Joe Biden on issues that are important to Americans.

Harris also announced her intention to include a Republican representative in her cabinet, emphasizing the importance of diversity of opinions in decision-making. She noted that it would be useful for Americans if there was a representative of the other party in her government, although there is no specific candidate yet.
Harris responded briefly to the reproaches of her opponent, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, about her race: “The same old show. Next question, please.”
Harris was also asked about immigration. The politician emphasized the importance of law enforcement and said that she is “the only candidate who has experience prosecuting transnational criminal organizations as attorney general.”
Speaking about foreign policy, Harris focused on relations with Israel, saying that she will continue to provide it with defense assistance. She noted the need to end hostilities and reach an agreement on the release of hostages, while remaining a supporter of finding a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The US presidential candidate said nothing about Ukraine and its further support.
