Moskovsky Komsomolets Publishes ‘Offensive’ Article About Lukashenka

What did it say?

The Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper published an article about the Belarusian dictator Lukashenka. The article was soon deleted.

Propagandist Alexey Dzermant, whose comment was also cited in the text, wrote that “the offensive material... was removed from publication.” However, it was preserved in the archive.

Solidarity cites part of the banned material that Lukashenka's regime did not like.

“Russians do not care about violations of citizens' rights and the lack of democracy (in Belarus — edit). Lukashenka creates the image of a Soviet collective farm leader who is all for Russia,” says Russian political scientist, deputy director of the Center for Political Technologies, and professor at the Higher School of Economics Alexey Makarkin.

“Lukashenka is only trying to influence the Russian information agenda,” says Russian political scientist, deputy dean of the faculty of world economy and world politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics Andrey Suzdaltsev. “He has converted Russia's difficulties of the last 20 years into support for his government and subsidies for his state.

Everything that is required for the front from their industry, they sell to us at the expense of our budget.”
