School Uniform To Seem 'Small Potatoes' To Parents

The "big potatoes" will follow.

Natallia Kachanava is concerned about the prices for the school uniform. According to her, the prices for high school pupils should be more democratic than for clothes for adults, writes Salidarnasts.

The official explained the price difference for school uniforms saying that "one clothing company manufactures products at democratic prices, another - of a more expensive segment, and the third manufactures products at affordable prices, but they are not presented in all shops".

There is often a problem with assortment in the regions, Kachanava admitted. Iryna Leukovich, a member of the upper house of parliament, also spoke of this problem:

"Those point problems and deficiencies that we periodically find in shops in the regions are promptly solved by the joint efforts of members of the Council of the Republic, who carry out monitoring, and representatives of the executive authorities on the ground. This is a point absence of either the size or of a model. Yes, sometimes we are not satisfied with the price range".

Those who, for some reason, decide to rejoice because of such care of officials, should ask themselves a question: was it worth it to create all this unnecessary fuss with compulsory school uniforms in the first place?

After all, this is in fact a classic example of a situation when officials first create a problem for themselves and people, and then solve it. And look how they solve it!

Assess the composition of the meeting, where Kachanava spoke about the prices of uniforms for high school students: in addition to the official - Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aliaksei Bahdanau, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets, Chairman of Bellegprom Concern Tatsiana Luhina, members of the Council of the Republic Iryna Leukovich and Uladzislau Tatarynovich, heads of trade organisations and producers of light industry.

But, judging by the revelations of the officials, the issues of prices and assortment may soon seem "small potatoes" to many parents. The head of Bellegprom recently told about the "big ones":

"We discussed and considered it possible to offer parents to collect for their sons and daughters of school age the image common in terms of colour scheme, but with a different set of assortment items.

A separate offer concerns chevrons with the state emblem. They can be purchased separately and stitched on the child's clothes, thus helping the boy or girl to feel from childhood that they belong to their native country and feel proud of it".

At the same time, Luhina emphasised that "we do not impose it". The realisation of the idea is at the discretion of the parents. And then she added, leaving no doubt as to how the authorities will treat this very discretion of parents:

"But I believe that this is a positive experience in line with the general trend, when society consolidates positive developments from the past through school uniforms".
