Explosions Heard In Kurchatov, Where Kursk Nuclear Power Plant Located

Local media report an attack on the station.

Late in the evening, August 6, there were explosions in Kurchatov, Kursk region. The sound was heard in the area where the Kursk NPP is located.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russian Telegram channels.

Clips from video surveillance cameras appeared in the social network. The sounds of explosions are heard on them at approximately 22:50. Local channels assume that perhaps the Kursk nuclear power plant was attacked.

Later, acting governor of Kursk region Alexei Smirnov said that allegedly Russian air defence forces had shot down two missiles.

In his turn, Kurchatov mayor Igor Korpunkov claimed that the Kursk nuclear power plant, which is located in the city, was allegedly functioning as usual.
