Stsiapan Papou: Litvinovich Is No Person, But Tool

The free athlete spoke about the dictatorship in the Belarusian trampoline team.

World, European and European Games champion, holder of the FairPlay world diploma Stsiapan Papou supported the protests in 2020, and in 2022 he openly spoke out against the war in Ukraine.

In an interview with the Charter97.org website, the free athlete commented on the decision of the 2024 Olympic champion, Belarusian trampoline athlete Ivan Litvinovich, not to speak out about the situation in Belarus.

— There was a telling moment when a German journalist caught trampoline athlete Ivan Litvinovich and asked what he thought about Lukashenka. He responded by saying, “this is a provocation,” “sport is beyond politics.” What do you think about this?

— They are all intimidated. I know many trampoline athletes and I know how everything is going there. And our massage therapist worked there. He is so impressed by their head coach Volha Ulasava. She is just a dictator.

It happened that one of the athletes screwed up, so she locked the entire team in their rooms for five days without phones. She did not let anyone leave the territory. You can come to an agreement with Ulasava, only if you “lie down” under her.

Moreover, trampoline is a sport where Litvinovich won a license, and any other athlete can go. They know this, they have 2-3 strong athletes, and all of them are forced to obey Ulasava.

Litvinovich is not a person, but just a tool in the hands of this dictatorship. I will say that this is good for the result. Such a post-Soviet system produces results. But people are oppressed in it, their personality is destroyed.

Ulasava destroys them morally, they cannot disobey her in anything (food, freedom, their phone). Eat, sleep, train — and no objections in response. There are results — gold, silver. She raises such “incubator” children.

Lukashenka's dictatorship covers up people like Ulasava. She shows the medal and thinks her hands are untied, she can do with them what she wants.

We had the same in judo when I trained. Everywhere they put people who will deal with such pressure.
