US Election: Harris Pulls Away From Trump

By 5 per cent.

Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris is ahead of her opponent Donald Trump by 5 per cent - 42 per cent against 37 per cent. This was reported by Reuters on August 9, citing the results of an Ipsos poll.

The results also showed Harris ahead of Trump (42% vs. 40%) in seven states where the battle was fiercest in the 2020 presidential election - Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Harris increased her lead over Trump compared to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted on July 22-23.

4 percent of respondents said they supported independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. compared with 10 percent in July.

Also, according to the Ipsos poll, many Trump voters associate Trump more strongly than Harris with the word "patriot" as well as with the word "weird," which Democratic supporters have begun calling the Republican nominee in recent weeks.

The Ipsos poll was conducted between August 2-7, with 2,045 U.S. adults participating. The margin of error is about 3 per cent.
