UK Announces New Sanctions Against Belarusian Regime Accomplices

The list includes heads of colonies and military industry enterprises.

The UK has sanctioned a further 4 individuals and 3 entities on the fourth anniversary of the deeply flawed 2020 presidential elections in Belarus. This was stated by Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

The UK imposed the sanctions in coordinated action with international partners, in response to human rights violations and ongoing facilitation of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Commanding officers of 4 of these penal colonies, who “have contributed to human rights violations and the repression of civil society”, have been hit with UK sanctions today:

Denis Anatolievich TOLSTENKOV: commanding officer of penal colony 4

Andrei Sergeevich PALCHYK: former commanding officer of penal colony 1

Filip Vladimirovich STURCHANKA: commanding officer of penal colony 3

Aleksey Valerievich LAZARENKO: commanding officer of penal colony 15

The list was expanded by three Belarusian enterprises from the defense and military-industrial sector that assisted Russia in the war with Ukraine:

OJSC StankoGomel: a Belarusian machine tool manufacturer exporting goods to Russia for use in the Russian military industrial sector

JSC NIIEVM: a Government of Belarus affiliated entity carrying on business in the Belarusian defence sector

Ruchservomotor LLC: a Belarusian machine tool manufacturer exporting goods to Russia for use in the Russian military industrial sector

It is noted that all three legal entities will now be unable to conduct business with British companies. The sanctions also include asset freezing and a ban on entry to the UK, as well as the provision of resources by British individuals.
