Textbook Published In Armenia Causes Nervous Reaction In Russia

The Russian Empire was called an occupier in it.

The annexation of Eastern Armenia to Russia in 1828 is called an annexation in a new Armenian history textbook for the 8th grade.

“Chapter 6.1 of the textbook is entitled “The Annexation of Eastern Armenia by Russia”. This can be verified by looking at the state platform of educational materials,” Armenian media report.

According to this textbook, the Treaty of Turkmenchay, concluded following the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828, will now be presented as an occupation by the Russian Empire.

It should be noted that the textbook has caused a nervous reaction in Russian media. The Armenian Ministry of Education and Science did not provide an explanation to Russian propagandists, but asked them to send a written request.

The department noted that if a textbook is included in the state platform of educational materials, it means that it has received a positive review.
