Defence Express: Consequences Of Drone Strikes On Moscow Cannot Be Hidden

No matter how hard the Russian authorities try.

On the night of September 1, Russian energy facilities were attacked by long-range drones. During the raid, Kashirskaya SDPP, Konakovskaya SDPP, as well as the Moscow Refinery were damaged.

According to Defence Express, although there is no official confirmation from the Ukrainian side, there is something to analyze. In particular, analysts believe that "the strike campaign has entered a new round."

"If we start with such a basic level, it is quite possible to derive a reduction that from today's strike of our UAVs on Russian SDPPs and refineries in Moscow will literally burn, and - through several factors at once," experts say.

They noticed that the Moscow refinery is located within the Russian capital, and therefore the defeat of an important facility cannot be hidden, although the mayor's office claims that the cause of the fire was the fall of a hit drone on the technical room. However, propagandists and the media write that the fire received the highest class of complexity.

The refinery itself has a capacity of 11 million tons of oil per year. It is important that this enterprise provides 40% of the demand for gasoline and 50% for diesel fuel in Moscow itself, and is also the main supplier of aviation fuel for the capital's airports.

"If we talk about the affected Russian SDPPs, then we need to give such details here. To begin with, we clarify that in this case, "SDPP" in Russian stands for "State District Power Plant", that is, here we are not talking about any special type of power generation, these are essentially the same thermal power plants," Defence Express noted.

According to the latest data, Kashirskaya SDPP has been undergoing modernization since 2021. The Russians hoped to increase its capacity from 410 MW to more than 800 MW by 2028. At the same time, the station in Konakovo has as much as 2520 MW of generation, and therefore the defeat of such a facility may have more tangible consequences for the energy system of the aggressor country.
