The White House Presents Secret Report On The War In Ukraine For Congress

Current information.

The Administration of US President Joe Biden sent a classified report to Congress regarding its strategy for the war in Ukraine.

It is reported by Reuters, citing 3 anonymous sources.

According to an assistant of one of the congressmen, the long-awaited report arrived on Monday, but lawmakers have not yet had time to consider it. Two other sources also confirmed the delivery of the report, maintaining anonymity due to the secrecy of the information.

Biden's Ukraine policy is supported by Democrats and most Republicans, although some Republicans criticize the administration for restricting the use of American weapons by Ukrainians, in particular, for refusing to supply systems capable of hitting targets on Russian territory.

Washington restricts the use of such systems because of limited stockpiles of missiles, doubts about their effectiveness against Russian forces, which are often out of reach, and fears of escalation of the conflict.

Some members of Congress, frustrated by the delay of the report, are considering blocking further funding for Ukraine.

Senator Jim Risch, the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a statement to Reuters in late August that he supports aid to Ukraine but does not do so unconditionally.

"Since the earliest days of Putin's war on Ukraine, we have asked the Biden-Harris Administration for a strategy on how the U.S. and our allies can help Ukraine win the war. When they did not respond to our requests, we mandated in law that a strategy be sent to Congress, but the deadline has passed with no response. President Biden and VP (Kamala) Harris owe a strategy not just to us, but to the American people, and their dereliction suggests they don’t have one or are afraid to share it,” Risch said.
