Nikolai Svanidze One Of Russian TV's Founders Has Died

The famous television journalist was 69 years old.

The famous Russian television journalist Nikolai Svanidze died on Wednesday evening in Moscow. He passed away in his apartment on Marshal Vasilevsky Street. He was 69 years old, Charter97.org reports, citing Russian media.

Svanidze was at the origins of Russian television. He was a TV presenter of socio-political programs, and for some time held the post of chairman of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

Since 1991, Svanidze has been the author and presenter of a whole series of historical television programs and films. For example, he hosted the shows "Details", "Contrasts", "Court of Time", "Historical Process". He also created the Mirror TV show.

In recent years, Nikolai Svanidze was seriously ill – he was diagnosed with cerebral ischemia.

The cause of death was pneumonia. According to Mash, the TV journalist died in the presence of an ambulance crew.

Before that, he also sought help from doctors, but refused hospitalization. He complained of breathing problems and fever.
