EPAM IT Specialist Living In USA Visits Belarus

Now he faces up to seven years in colony.

Artur Memekh moved to the USA in the spring of 2020. It seems that he was detained when he decided to visit relatives in Belarus. Soon the trial will begin, writes ‘Nasha Niva’.

Artur Memekh is 33 years old. He is a Minsk resident. In 2013, he graduated from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, but already since the third year he started working at EPAM.

In EPAM, Artur rose to the position of senior software engineer, which is something like a leading engineer in the Belarusan system. And in March 2020, just before the start of the covid epidemic, he relocated to the USA to the same position in EPAM's office in Weehawken, which is in the state of New Jersey, but very close to New York.

Artur loves travelling, he has toured many cities in the US.

The last time he was online on social media was late last autumn. It seems that Memekh decided to visit Belarus in late 2023 or early 2024, and was detained.

Artur faces trial on September 23, 2024. He is accused of ‘promoting extremist activity’ (part 1 and part 2 of article 361-4 of the Criminal Code). He will be tried by Aliaksandr Rudzenka.
