Trump Refuses To Have New Election Debate With Harris

The US presidential candidate says he has won.

Former US President Donald Trump has said he has no plans to take part in another election debate with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

‘When a boxer loses a fight, the first words he says are: ‘I want a rematch.’ The polls clearly show that I won the debate against fellow left-leaning Democratic candidate Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, and she immediately demanded a second round of debates. Kamala should focus on what she should have been doing for the last nearly four years. There will be no third debate,’ he wrote on his Truth Social media account.

Trump added that Harris and US President Joe Biden have ruined the country and destroyed the middle class.

According to a CNN and SSRS poll, a majority of US voters (63 per cent) said Harris won the debate with Trump. Before the debate, those same voters were evenly split on which candidate would perform more convincingly, with 50 per cent believing Harris would look better and 50 per cent believing Trump would.

After the previous debate, which involved incumbent Joe Biden, 67% of participants in the same poll gave the victory to Trump.

Meanwhile, respondents' votes were almost evenly split when asked which presidential contender better understands their needs, with 44% saying Harris and 40% saying Trump.

A majority of survey participants believe Trump would handle economic challenges better than Harris (55% vs. 35%). More than half of respondents (54%) also said they are ‘somewhat confident’ in Harris and Trump's abilities to lead the country. Meanwhile, 36% said they had complete confidence in Trump and 32% in Harris.

The televised debate between Trump and Harris took place in Philadelphia. They were organised by the ABC TV channel. Following the event, Trump said that it was his ‘best debate of all time’, as he was confronting not only Harris, but also the two hosts.
