Politico: Britain, US To Allow Ukraine To Strike At Russian Federation With Long-Range Weapons As Early As This Month

The decision may be agreed at the UN General Assembly.

The US and Britain may lift restrictions on Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range weapons this month. The agreement could be negotiated at the UN General Assembly.

This is reported by Politico.

The other day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the White House, where he met with US President Joe Biden. The leaders discussed the possible lifting of restrictions from Ukraine on using long-range weapons. The issue at stake is permission to hit military targets in Russia with long-range Western missiles provided to Ukraine.

Four British officials said in comments to Politico that they did not expect any formal announcement this weekend. One suggested the U.S.-British agreement could be confirmed at the U.N. General Assembly later this month. That's when world leaders including Biden and Starmer will gather in New York.

Western officials also believe the decision alone will not change the course of the war. Nevertheless, the West has become increasingly open to Ukraine's requests to help halt the Russian offensive along the eastern front in recent months.
