Retired Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, pilot instructor, military expert Roman Svitan said in a military report on l24 Channe that the Su-30M fighter was built on the basis of the best Soviet aircraft Su-20M.

Svitan noted that the Su-30M fighter flew at low altitudes and was not afraid of our MANPADS and F-16. However, the F-16 has the best avionics, the best locators. “Groups with MANPADS were hunting for planes, and one of these hunts resulted in the destruction of one of them. At an altitude of several dozen meters above the water surface, there is no time to eject. The pilot simply does not have time to do this,” the instructor pilot noted.

Su-30M Tasks

According to the retired colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Su-30M fighter fired anti-radar missiles Kh-31P. These are Soviet missiles that are similar to the Western HARMs that we have in service. However, Western missiles fly a distance of 150 kilometers, and these missiles, with a declared distance of 100 kilometers, barely cover 70-80 kilometers.

“The Russian plane had to approach at low altitudes under the radio horizon, under the beams of our radars. They tried to shoot off these missiles from the closest possible distance. Of course, this is how they run into our field groups. Most likely, the Defence Intelligence together with the Air Force observed the approaches of these aircraft,” the military expert emphasized.
