Explosion Near Restaurant In Cologne City Center

A bystander received minor injuries and was hospitalized.

On the morning of September 16, a powerful explosion near a restaurant in central Cologne (Germany) resulted in one person being injured.

The man is currently in hospital in serious condition. This was reported by Obozrevatel with a reference to the Bild publication.

The explosion occurred at around 6:00 am near the entrance to the Vanity Club restaurant and club. The building also houses office premises. Law enforcement agencies quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

As a result of the explosion, ceiling tiles collapsed at the entrance to the building and windows blew out. The owner of the building calls the incident a terrorist attack. The businessman noted that the attacker understood that there were people in the club who could be injured. According to preliminary estimates, the material damage is 100 thousand euros.

A police spokesman claims that there are no signs of a terrorist motive for the crime. German police and prosecutors are currently investigating the explosion that occurred in the city centre.
