The "superweapon" demonstration failed.
This is not the first time that Russia has conducted unsuccessful tests of the RS-28 Sarmat nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile.
Pavlo Lakiychuk, the head of security programs at the Strategy XXI Center for Global Studies, said this on the air of Radio NV.
"The number of explosions can count their commissioning process. Last year, in February, there was an explosion of the Sarmat. However, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced in September 2023 that it had been put on combat duty. In my opinion, such haste is an attempt to demonstrate to the world the commissioning of a new superweapon. This is an obvious element of Putin's nuclear blackmail," the expert believes.
At the same time, he compared the capabilities of Russia and the DPRK in creating similar ballistic missiles. According to the expert, North Korean missile tests are much more effective, although they are assembled from the same parts as Russian ones. According to the expert, there are two reasons for such low effectiveness of the Russian nuclear program.
"The first important factor is that the Russians do not have a powerful theoretical and practical school that Ukraine had. The Russians decided that they could cope on their own. However, these problems can be overcome - North Korea is not the best example, but serious compared to the Russians. And here another factor arises - greed. Not only of designers, but also of managers. When the entire vertical is built on kickbacks and theft - such products are obtained," added Lakiychuk.
