German Chancellor says Berlin will not lift restrictions.
Germany will not lift restrictions on Ukrainian strikes deep into Russian territory. This is the position of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz before a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Tagesschau reports.
The head of the German government said that his country ‘focuses on what really helps and what is necessary’ in the context of assistance to Ukraine.
‘This also includes the fact that Germany will not lift the restrictions on the range (of strikes - ed.). This is incompatible with my personal position,’ Scholz added.
He also called on the EU to provide Ukraine promptly with the promised financial aid of 35 billion euros. According to the chancellor, it is important that our friends partners from Canada, the USA, the UK and Japan could also contribute.
