Ukraine Announces Development Of Missiles And Drones With 1.5 Thousand Kilometer Range

They have already been used to strike Russia.

Ukraine has drones and missiles of its own production with a range of 1.5 thousand kilometers, said Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin in an interview with CNN. According to him, these shells have already been used to strike Russia. Kamyshin did not disclose any other details.

On August 27, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine had successfully tested the first ballistic missile of its own production. However, the head of state did not provide any details, citing secrecy.

A few days before this, Zelensky announced the successful launch of the Ukrainian long-range missile-drone “Palianytsia”. On the social network X, he published a video showing what the missile looks like. “Attacks on our cities can be stopped by striking the carriers of these weapons — Russian aircraft at military airfields,” the president noted at the time.

During the Soviet era, Ukraine had military missile production capabilities. In particular, ballistic missiles were manufactured at the Southern Machine-Building Plant in Dnipro.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are shelling military and energy facilities on Russian territory in response to the full-scale invasion and regular destruction of critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine by the Russian army. Not only border areas suffer from Ukrainian attacks, but also regions located at a significant distance from the border.

Thus, on August 28, drones attacked the Kirov region for the first time. The strike was carried out on a warehouse with oil products in the city of Kotelnich, which is located 1,250 km from the Ukrainian border. On August 21, Ukrainian drones struck the village of Vysoky in the Murmansk region for the first time. The raid on this settlement, located beyond the Arctic Circle, was a record-breaking distance since the beginning of the war — 1,850 km to the border with Ukraine. The target of the Ukrainian UAVs was the Olenya military airfield.

The previous record of 1,800 kilometers was set by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the end of May, when they attacked Orsk in the Orenburg Region, where the nuclear strike early warning radar station (Voronezh radar) is located. Before that, the farthest target of Ukrainian drones was an object in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which is located 1,660 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border. In April, Ukrainian drones tried to attack an enterprise in Nizhnekamsk, 1,200 kilometers from the border.
