Estonian Defence Minister: Russia's Attack On NATO Member Is Possible

The Alliance should be ready.

Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur said that Russia is a threat not only to his country, but also to the entire West, and its attack on one of the NATO member states cannot be ruled out.

He said this in an interview with European Pravda.

Pevkur claims that countries should be prepared for the possibility of Russia attacking.

"We cannot rule it out, if that is the right word. Therefore, of course, we should be ready for it. After all, we have already seen this," he said, citing the example of drone debris falling in Romania and Russian missiles entering Poland.

According to him, this is not a classic "attack on NATO," since the target of all these attacks was Ukraine, but the Alliance countries should also be prepared.

"For me, the main thing is that he (Putin) is a threat in principle. Russia is a threat, and not only to Estonia, but to the entire West. And when there is a threat, we must have a response to it. In searching for this response, we must realize that the only thing Russians understand is the language of force,” Pevkur said.

That is why, according to him, Estonia is increasing military production and has increased defence spending to more than three percent of GDP.

“That is why we are buying a lot of ammunition. That is why we have created new regional plans for NATO member states.

This is our response to the threat that Russia currently poses to the West,” the minister said.
