Japan Confirms Detention Of Its Citizen In Belarus

The Belarusian regime has declared Nakanishi Masatoshi a "spy".

Japanese citizen Nakanishi Masatoshi, who was detained in Belarus on suspicion of espionage, is receiving consular support and has no health problems, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a press conference.

"The Japanese Embassy confirmed that a man in his 50s was detained by local authorities for violating domestic legislation. We confirmed at a consular meeting with the citizen that he has no particular health problems. Regarding this case, I would like to refrain from providing any details regarding the reason for the detention, the circumstances that led to the detention, etc. The government will continue to provide as much support as possible," Hayashi said.

He declined to comment on the circumstances of the case, since it concerns personal information, Reuters writes.
