Former Police Captain From Kobryn Is Being Tried On High Treason Charges

On September 17, the Brest Regional Court begins to consider the case against the 41-year-old resident of Kobryn Dzmitry Peratolchyn. He is charged with high treason (Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code) and failure to report a crime (Part 2 of Article 406).

According to Belpol, provided to Mediazona, Peratolchyn until 2011 served as a platoon commander of the Kobryn Department of the Security Department and was a police captain. He's married and has a daughter.

In November 2012, the Brest Inter-Garrison Military Court sentenced Peratolchyn to 3.5 years in prison with a three-year delay under the article on fraud (Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code). In August 2010, Peratolchyn, entered into a conspiracy with other Belarusians. It consisted in stealing property imported from Ukraine under the guise of confiscation.

While in uniform, Peratolchyn stopped the car in which some things were transported from Ukraine. Under the guise of confiscation, he and his accomplices stole property, causing damage to the owner by 9,143,000 non-denominated Belarusian rubles. Peratolchyn was stripped of his rank of police captain. After that, he worked as a foundry worker at Polesie and as a specialist at Dobronom.

The father of the accused is enadz Peratolchyn, a reserve police lieutenant colonel, who held the position of chief of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in the Brest region. In 2008, he retired, and in 2014 he was a candidate for the Kobryn District Council.
