Forbes: Situation Near Pokrovsk Changed Dramatically

Russian propaganda is sounding the alarm.

The offensive of the Russian occupiers in the Pokrovsk direction has stalled after several reserve brigades of the Ukrainian Defense Forces entered the battle, conducting counterattacks and in some places pushing back the invaders.

Despite the fact that the 2nd Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation outnumbers Ukrainian forces in the east by about four times, the capture of Pokrovsk by the Russians, which once seemed inevitable, looks less likely, writes Forbes.

The article notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces kept four or five brigades in reserve — each of which numbered up to 2,000 soldiers and hundreds of pieces of equipment. Now these reserves are joining the fighting along the last line of trenches and fortified towns five to six miles from Pokrovsk and its vital supply routes.

“Exactly what was expected is happening — the Ukrainian armed forces have begun to counterattack,” writes Russian propagandist Yevgeny Norin.

Today, the Kara-Dag Brigade of the National Guard, the 12th Azov Brigade and the 93rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting small counterattacks, the main effect of which is to slow down or slightly push back the Russians.

It is emphasized that the fierce actions of the Kara-Dag Brigade in Selydove, a frontline town southeast of Pokrovsk, may be the most significant of the recent counterattacks. For several days now, the brigade's T-64 tanks have been blowing up and capturing Russian tanks and combat vehicles that are trying to penetrate Selydove along the main east-west road.

Journalists write that the Russians must pass through Selydove in order to be able to fire accurately at Pokrovsk. But now that fresh and well-equipped Ukrainian troops are in Selidovo and advancing, the Russian takeover of Pokrovsk, which once seemed inevitable, looks somewhat less likely.
