The US elected president has addressed the Republican governors.
US President-elect Donald Trump has said Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to meet with him. According to him, the meeting is already being prepared.
This is reported by Reuters and Bloomberg.
Trump's statement came on Thursday, during his speech to Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
‘He (Putin - ed) wants to meet and we will organise it. President Xi, we've had a lot of conversations. And we have a lot of meetings scheduled with a lot of people. Some have already arrived,’ he said.
A number of other media outlets interpreted the translation that Trump said: ‘and we're making arrangements for that.’ At the same time, he did not give any dates for the meeting with the Russian dictator and other representatives of countries, but noted that he would wait until the 20th. That is, the day of his inauguration.
Trump was also asked if, when he was talking about meeting with Putin or Chinese President Xi Jinping, he was referring to the format of the meeting as a summit, or if the leaders would come to the US. Responding to the question, the newly elected head of the White House, among other things, touched on the speech about the war in Ukraine.
‘It is yet to be determined. President Putin wants to meet. He's talked about it even publicly, and we have to end this war. It's a bloody mess,’ Trump summarised.
