Cybertruck Blow-Up In Las Vegas: Police Find Fuel Canisters, Fireworks

It's become known who rented the truck.

A Cybertruck blew up near the entrance to the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday, killing the driver and injuring 7 people. The police have found fuel canisters and fireworks in the pickup truck.

This is reported by Axios and the Axios и Associated Press.

Speaking at a briefing, Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Clark County Police Department in Las Vegas said ‘fuel canisters and large firework mortars’ (pyrotechnics) were found in the back of the truck.

He also said authorities know who rented the truck using the Turo app in Colorado. However, they will not release the name until investigators determine if it is the same person who died.

According to the sheriff's office, the video provided by CEO Elon Musk, filmed at Tesla charging stations, helped authorities track the vehicle's route. It arrived in Las Vegas around 07:30am and then about an hour later entered the Trump International Hotel car park area, where it stayed for 15-20 seconds before exploding.

The video presented at the press conference this afternoon shows a pile of charred firecracker mortars, canisters and other explosive devices piled in the back of the pickup truck. The walls of the truck bed itself remained intact as the blast went upwards rather than sideways.

Musk had earlier written on the X social network that ‘the explosion was caused by a very powerful firework or bomb being carried in the back of the rented Cybertruck’ and it was not related to the vehicle itself.

U.S. President Joe Biden said in a television broadcast on Wednesday evening that law enforcement officials are investigating whether there was any possible connection between the Cybertruck explosion and the runover of the car into a crowd of people in New Orleans, which killed at least 15 people.

We remind you that Elon Musk said that the explosion of the cargo pickup truck, which produces his company, could be a terrorist attack.

He also suggested that what happened may be related to the incident in New Orleans. The billionaire said that in both cases the vehicles were rented using Turo, a site that allows car owners to rent out their vehicles.
