There are fatalities and hundreds of people have been detained in Berlin.

At least five people were killed by fireworks in Germany on New Year's Eve, but this number may change, as many injured people are in serious condition in German hospitals. And in Marzahn, eight "shooting victims" with serious injuries were reported.

The police announced 330 arrests for "using pyrotechnics in violation of the law" in Berlin, Spiegel reports. The publication also cites Berlin city authorities, who claim that 13 law enforcement officers were injured by fireworks.

Attacks on police with fireworks and firecrackers were also recorded in Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen, Dresden and several other cities. In Schwäbisch Gmünd in Baden-Württemberg, three police officers were slightly injured after a homemade bomb exploded near them.

Also in Hamburg, a 20-year-old man was fatally injured by a homemade firecracker.

In Munich, three children were injured by fireworks explosions, and in Rostock, a 10-year-old boy was injured by someone else's firecracker. It exploded right in his face.

In Leipzig, about 150 young people "duelled" each other by shooting fireworks at each other. They also targetted cars and trams.
