Georgia's Special Forces Head Quits His Post In Protest
IRAKLI SHAISHMELASHVILI

He had to go to the United States

Irakli Shaishmelashvili, former head of the Operational Planning Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry (analogue of the Special Forces), has resigned in protest. He had to leave the country and go to the USA, sovanews.tv reports.

He noted that the Georgian Dream party does not oppose anything against hybrid warfare and instead poisons society with disinformation and lies.

‘Unfortunately, today's government does not oppose this hybrid struggle and war in any way, it is poisoning the society, including its voters, with disinformation and lies,’ he said.

Shaishmelashvili left Georgia with his family a few days ago. According to him, his family members, including a minor child, were threatened with liquidation after he left office. And that was a sufficient reason to think about leaving the country.

‘On the last day, when I was about to leave, I left everything - keys, ID-card, car... One of Khareb's deputies (Zviad Kharazishvili, the head of the Department of Special Assignments, who fell under US sanctions - ed.) came in and tried to provoke ... They threatened both me and my family members with liquidation... they can do anything,’ Shaishmelashvili claims.
