Alleged Nephew Of Belarusian Interior Minister Becomes Adviser To Ukrainian Defense Minister
OLEKSANDR KUBRAKOV

Previously, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the country.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Tuesday, January 7, that he had appointed Oleksandr Kubrakov as his adviser on a voluntary basis. According to Ukrainian and Belarusian media, Oleksandr is the nephew of Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou.

“His experience as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure, and Head of Ukravtodor is important and will help improve the supply and logistics system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Umerov said.

Previously, Kubrakov served as Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure. On May 9, 2024, he was dismissed from his post.

Ukrainian and Belarusian media have repeatedly reported that Oleksandr Kubrakov is a relative of Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou.

There were five children in the family of Ivan Kubrakov, who was born in the village of Malinauka, Kastsiukovichy district, Mahiliou region. The eldest, Mikalai, was born in 1960, Mikhail in 1961, Viktar in 1964, Siarhei in 1969, and Ivan in 1975. Mikalai is believed to be the father of the Ukrainian official. It is noted that he was the first of the brothers to go to work in the police.
