24-year-old political prisoner Darya Khmialnitskaya, who was previously sentenced to five and a half years in prison, is free. Information about this was published by the Belarusian PEN Center,

On the Belarusian PEN page, the decree lists the date of Khmelnitskaya's release as December 12, 2024. It also reads that the teacher was released by pardon. No other details are given.

Khmelnitskaya was probably among those pardoned by Aliaksandr Lukashenka on December 9 last year – then he signed a decree concerning 29 people "who committed extremist crimes." However, specific names were not given in the document as usual.
