Electricity Cut Off In Several Minsk Streets On Festive Day

It took more than six hours to eliminate the accident.

Electricity was cut off in several streets in Minsk on Tuesday, a festive day. The cause of the incident was the damage of equipment in the transformer substation, reports Euroradio with reference to minsknews.by.

The incident in Zavadski district became known in the afternoon on 7 January. The disappearance of light was reported by residents of houses in Kuliashou, Fedotau, Aivazovsky, Vasnetsov, Shchytavok streets and a number of alleys. Minskenerha initially reported about a ‘regular power cut,’ which occurred around 13:30, and denied the information about the fire of the power substation. Two field crews were working on the site. Half an hour later, light appeared in half of the houses. It was expected that in another half an hour it would appear in the rest, but it did not happen.

After 15 hours ‘power supply was restored to most of the consumers’. It was possible to eliminate the consequences of the accident fully only at around 8 pm. The repair team of RES-1 ‘with the involvement of an emergency team and a team of the measurement and surge protection service’ were working on the site to test the equipment.

Nothing is reported about the cause of the accident.
