Belarus Rises Fines And Traffic Police Tariffs Since New Year

As of January 1, 2025, the base fee has increased in Belarus once again. Now it is 42 rubles. This means not only an increase in various state duties and fees, but also an increase in fines for traffic violations, as well as traffic police tariffs.

The editors of Telegraf.news figured out how much Belarusian drivers will now have to pay for their “sins” on the road.

Among the services of the State Traffic Inspectorate, the service of making license plates with the desired combination of numbers and letters has increased in price the most. Now it will cost 2,520 Belarusian rubles.

Car registration now costs 84 rubles for license plates and 42 rubles for a registration certificate. Registration of a motorcycle or trailer will cost 42 rubles for each type of document.

Deregistration with the issuance of transit numbers for cars will cost 42 rubles, for motorcycles and trailers — 21 rubles.

The prices for services related to obtaining a driver's license have increased. The cost of a theoretical exam on traffic rules is now 12 rubles 60 kopecks. For a practical driving test, you will have to pay 42 rubles. Submitting an application will cost 3 rubles 36 kapeykas, and the computer service — 1 ruble 68 kapeykas. Obtaining a driver's license itself costs 84 rubles, and its duplicate — 126 rubles.

Fines

All amounts have similarly increased by 5%. The fine for speeding is now:

up to 42 rubles for exceeding from 10 to 20 km / h;

from 42 to 126 rubles for exceeding from 20 to 30 km / h;

from 126 to 420 rubles for exceeding the speed limit by 30 to 40 km/h;

and from 336 to 504 rubles for exceeding the speed limit by 40 km/h or more.

For repeated speeding within a year, the fine may be from 210 to 630 rubles or deprivation of a driver’s license for up to one year.

If you drive a car without a technical inspection, then individuals face a fine of up to 126 rubles, and legal entities and individual entrepreneurs — up to 420 rubles. In case of a repeated violation, the fine will be from 84 to 210 rubles.

If the driver drives a vehicle while intoxicated and the blood alcohol level is up to 0.8 ppm, they will face a fine of up to 4,200 rubles and deprivation of a driver’s license for three years. If the alcohol concentration exceeds 0.8 ppm, the fine will be 8,400 rubles, and the license will be taken away for five years.

Violation of the rules for stopping or parking entails a fine of 42 rubles, for parking in a space for the disabled — 84 rubles. Violation of the rules for stopping or parking a truck, bus, tractor or other agricultural machinery will cost 210 rubles.

Also, a fine of 42 to 126 rubles is provided for driving a car without a compulsory insurance contract. In the event of an accident without insurance, the fine will be from 210 to 420 rubles.

In addition, violation of the rules for overtaking or driving into the oncoming lane will now cost from 84 to 420 rubles, and deprivation of a driver’s license for up to one year is also possible.

For driving a car without a license or handing over control to such a person, the fine will be from 210 to 840 rubles, and for a repeated violation within a year — from 840 to 2,100 rubles with the possibility of community service or administrative arrest for up to 15 days. If you continue to drive without a license, then you will already face criminal liability under Article 317-2 of the Criminal Code. The punishment can range from a fine of 2,100 rubles and community service to two years of restricted freedom.

The fine for violating the rules for the location of a vehicle on the roadway, as well as failure to give way to a route vehicle, pedestrian or other road users, ranges from 42 to 210 rubles.

A fine of up to 42 rubles is provided for not wearing a seat belt and riding a motorcycle without a helmet.

If you drive through a red light or do not comply with the traffic controller's requirements, you risk receiving a fine of 42 to 210 rubles.

In addition, using a phone while driving can cost the driver up to 84 rubles.
