The US State Department Accused Lukashenka Of Human Trafficking

Washington demands that the regime stop transporting Ukrainian children and return them to their families.

The Belarusian authorities should stop the organized transportation of Ukrainian children and take all measures for their safe return to their parents or guardians. This is stated in the annual report of the U.S. State Department on human trafficking for 2025, reports "Mirror".

The report notes that Belarus does not meet the minimum standards for eliminating the problem of human trafficking and the authorities are not making significant efforts to achieve this goal. Belarus out of three groups of countries is referred to the third, including Afghanistan, Iran, China, DPRK, Cambodia, Russia, Eritrea, Sudan and others.

The State Department calls the movement of unaccompanied Ukrainian children into Belarus and the entry into our country with subsequent transit to the EU of third-country nationals and asylum seekers among the signs of human trafficking on the part of the Belarusian authorities.

In Belarus as a whole, according to the authors of the report, the majority of victims are men subjected to forced labor in Russia.

The authors of the report recommended official Minsk to "stop the organized transportation of Ukrainian children" and ensure their safe return to their parents or guardians.

In addition, the authorities were advised to "clarify in the criminal code that no punishment related to forced labor can be applied for peaceful expression of political views," as well as to "raise awareness about the voluntary nature of subbotniks."

On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued international arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children's Rights, because of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation.

In June 2023, Belarusian demsils submitted materials to the ICC on the involvement of the Belarusian authorities in the illegal removal of children from Ukraine. In September 2024, Latushko stated that, according to data collected at the time, more than 3,500 children from more than 20 settlements in the occupied territories of Ukraine had been deported to the territory of Belarus.

In October last year, a report by human rights organizations Stolen Childhood was published, detailing how the Belarusian authorities "transport, indoctrinate, re-educate and militarize Ukrainian children in the interests of the Russian state policy of eradicating Ukrainian nationalism".
