Von Der Leyen Names Condition For Serbia's EU Accession

Belgrade should join sanctions against Russian Federation.

Serbia will not be able to join the European Union (EU) without imposing sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen during talks with Serbian President Alexandar Vucic.

"It is time for Serbia to take concrete steps to join the EU. We need to see a greater level of alignment with our foreign policy, including on sanctions against Russia," she said.

At the same time, the European Commission chief congratulated Serbia on achieving a high level of "alignment with EU foreign policy."
