U.S. Budget Deficit Shrinks Sharply

The decline was the first since 2022.

The U.S. budget deficit has decreased by 2.3%. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of the country.

The decrease was the first since 2022. Higher revenues from trade duties and cuts in education spending helped reduce the deficit and even offset increased spending on health care, pensions retirement and servicing the U.S. national debt.

The fiscal year ended with a $1 trillion 775.357 billion budget deficit, down $41.4 billion.

U.S. budget expenditures increased by 4% to $7.01 trillion, while payments on the national debt increased by 7% to $1.216 trillion. The most spending went to social security - $1.647 trillion, this figure increased by 8% over the year. At the same time, spending on educational programs decreased eight times.
