Trump Names Possible Deadline For Ending Russia's War In Ukraine

The US president hopes the war will end before his meeting with Xi Jinping.

US President Donald Trump has admitted that the conflict in Ukraine may end before his meeting with Chinese leader Si Jinping on the margins of the ASEAN summit. He said this during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in Washington.

The White House chief was asked if he was going to discuss the war with the Chinese leader at the summit, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on October 26-28. "I would like to see a settlement before that event takes place," Trump replied.

The U.S. leader also avoided answering a question about Ukraine's prospects for regaining territory lost during the war with Russia. "Who knows, war is very interesting. You never know what's going to happen," he said.
